Social Meeting Wednesdays
The Propeller Club is a weekly gathering of volunteers who come together to mingle, share their interests, and plan for future MHS activities. It serves as both a social and working arm of the Marine Heritage Society. We meet year round every Wednesday at 3:30 pm at the historic Walker House. Visitors are welcome.
Our group originated in 1990 with just three individuals meeting on Wednesdays. Over time, the informal gatherings expanded, and today the Propeller Club boasts over 265 members, including seasonal and year-round participants.
We convene every Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm at the Walker House. By 4:00pm, discussions turn to strategizing, planning, and mobilizing volunteers for the upcoming week's activities. At 4:30pm, the focus shifts back to socializing. Some stay for dinner
Propeller Club members assume various roles in preserving and sharing our marine heritage with the world. Some are involved in organizing Chantry Island visits, serving as tour boat captains, crew members, guides, and staffing the Tour Base. Others prefer to maintain gardens, walkways, docks, and ensure that Chantry Island and Pioneer Park are kept in top condition. There are additional team efforts involving the Marine Heritage Festival, volunteer nights, and potluck dinners.
If you're interested in making new friends, enjoying hands-on activities, and supporting this natural coastal community, the Propeller Club offers a fun way to get involved.
Participation is entirely discretionary, allowing members to contribute as much or as little time as their schedules and interests permit.
Propeller Club meets every Wednesday at 3:30pm at the historic Walker House, 146 High Street in Southampton, where friends and colleagues have been gathering for over 100 years. Unannounced visitors welcome.
