The Town of Saugeen Shores is working with the Municipal Heritage Committee in making sure that the restoration will follow the rules that go with the Historical Designation.
Thanks to Derrick Seaman and his staff from Seaman & Sons Builders who have secured the west side of the Range Light to help protect it for the winter. The restoration work to be done will be to replace the plywood, cedar shingles, window, door repair, ventilation and paint. The work is estimated to cost between $75,000 and $100,000.
The Marine Heritage Society is accepting donations towards the restoration of the Historically Designated Saugeen Front Range Light. With the support of Southampton Rotary Club, who kicked off the Fundraising campaign with their “Jazz for the Light” event and started the fund with a donation of $14,500. The Southampton Yacht Club joined in with a pledge of $5,000 over the next two years and many generous donors are sending their cheques in.
