The Lumberjacks

This picture was taken at maple syrup time by Nancy Calder in "The Trelford Bush" a legendary forest belonging to the Trelford family for generations.  We were in the process of cutting down giant hemlock trees to be used in the reconstruction of the Keeper's Quarters.  The smell of sap cooking was in the air  The Trelford brothers have a shack in the forest that is a wonderful place to gather at this time of year.  The day was misty as the moisture evaporated from the soil.  What a day to be alive!  Opie loved it more than we did.  I hope my grandchildren see this photo some day.
