The Marine Heritage Society manages the Chantry Island Light Station under agreements and restrictions from the Canadian Coast Guard and the Canadian Wildlife Service. The Light Station is part of the National bird sanctuary that extends 180 meters out into the water.  Signs are posted on the perimeter of the Island.  Only visitors authorized in advance by the Society may access the site.   For tours or volunteering call 519-797-5862 or  1-866-797-5862

The sanctuary is one of the most important migratory bird nesting places south of James Bay.  The number of visitors to the site is limited during fledgling periods to 25 per day. Furthermore, the Light Station site is managed by the Marine Heritage Society via agreements with the Canadian Coast Guard and tours or volunteer help must be coordinated thru them.
