Duncan McGregor Lambert

        Duncan McGregor Lambert was appointed permanent Lighthouse keeper on Chantry Island on April 1st, 1858.    His annual salary was $435.  A man named Robert Mills who had tended a temporary light from 1855-1857 was moved to the new Light on Nottawasaga Island.  It is worthy of note that Duncan's family stayed year round on the Island during the early years.  Just doing this during wild storms and ice shows the hardy nature of these people.
