Chantry Island Tour Schedule

August 1 to 31 (9:30 AM, 1 PM, 3PM)
· A boat trip to and from the Island located 1 1/4 miles from the Saugeen River mouth takes about 15 minutes each way.
· The tour is guided by trained tour guides detailing the history and features of the Lighthouse, Keeper’s Quarters, shipwrecks, Long Dock, internationally important bird sanctuary and mystery of Chantry Island.
· If you are able, please look forward to climbing the 106 steps of Chantry Island Lighthouse, a unique Imperial Tower with base walls 7 1/2 feet thick!
· The trip is made on the tour boat Peerless.
· Cancellations can be caused by weather conditions, but light rain is fine.
· The trip and tour are photographic dreams
· Children must be at least 4 feet tall due to safety considerations and life jackets.
· The tour is much like a medium hike and requires a certain degree of agility and fitness. You can enjoy the tour without climbing the Lighthouse
· Mandatory attire suitable for a hike is required with no high-heels and no flip-flops. (no exceptions)
· Children must be accompanied by their parents or guardians.
· Please be at the Chantry Island Tour Base at the mouth of the Saugeen River on the south side 10 minutes before departure.
· No animals are allowed on the Island due to the importance of the bird sanctuary. (no exceptions)

The cost of the tour is $25 for adults and children. You can also visit our gift shop at the Chantry Island Tour Base.
Cancellations must be done 24 hours before the scheduled departure. The tours leave on time.
The tour base is located at the mouth of the Saugeen River on the south side. If you are coming from out of town go to the centre of town which has a traffic light. Turn down High Street going west. You can take Grovesnor, Huron or Front street north until you hit the river. Park your car in the area near Pioneer Park and proceed to the Tour Base Building which is well marked. It faces the river and is characterized by blue steps and two large signs “Chantry Island Tour Base”
