I beg leave to enclose the pay list in duplicate for the month ending the 31st July.
I also beg leave to report that the light house at Christian Island is built up 6 feet above the foundation. The force employed there is as follows:
Foreman 1
Masons 3
Stone Cutters 4
Labourers 3
1 Scow hauling stone from the main land
Scowmen 6
Total 17 men and one span of horses
On the Nottawasaga Island they have commenced laying the cut stone for basement of the main shaft. Force employed:
Foreman 1

Stone Cutters 8
Labourers 5
Scows 2
Scowmen 12
Span horses 1
Total number of men 36 and 1 span of horses
I visited the Isle of Coves on August 20th and the laying of the masony had not yet commenced but the force put on is as follows:

Labourers 8
Horse 1
Total 16 men and one horse

I beg leave to enclose the pay list for the month of August, amounting to fifty-one pounds and ten pence. As I have no further use for a rodman (?) I have dispensed with his services.
I also beg to send the following report upon the progress of the week.
Sept. 4th -- The light house at Nottawasaga Island is built seven feet above the basement course of shaft, and that foundation of the dwelling house was being commenced when I was there. The force employed is as follows.

Scowmen with 2 scows 12
span of Horses 1
total of Men 37
There is about 100 yds of ash now delivered and a small lime kiln built and formed (?) but not drawn. (?)
Sept. 6th -- Christian Island light house built up the basement course of shaft. The dwelling house 6 feet above the foundation.

September 8th -- Isle of Coves. The masonry laid, the excavation for foundations done.

The total force employed on the three light houses amounts to 66 men and three span of horses.
As there is sufficient work performed to warrant an estimate I would feel obliged if you would send the prices upon which to predicate the estimate. I am also much in want of a specification as there are some few things that the plans do not exactly furnish the details of. Please direct to Collingwood as I leave Goderich to day.
